Avoiding the Freelance Scam

Posted by: christineculley86 on: May 27, 2009

For all those newcomers into the freelancing markets you are probably worried more about getting involved with a scam then you are about finding work. With the amount of scam artists out there it can be hard knowing which buyers are good and which ones are bad.

As a freelancer I’ve encountered many good buyers and many bad buyers. When you encounter those bad buyers though it always seems like they’ll do anything to get you to work quickly and supply you the work, yet the payment never seems to come your way. This can be quite frustrating and could end up leaving someone in the dark.

When you become dependent on your freelancing income it can be hard going through a freelance scam, especially if you have children. This is why it has always been suggested to always request money up front if the buyer expects you to work like a complete robot. I’ve been through it. Working 20 hours straight writing about some of the most ridiculous things, and yet I’m left in the dark without a payment.

Now don’t get me wrong, there are a large number of bad buyers out there that will scam you quite easily, but there are also many great buyers out there that will do anything to ensure you get your payment, but also get you more work. These are some of the most astounding buyers out there and they always seem to be wanting you to do more and more each week.

The best way as to which you can avoid the freelance scam is by being the interviewer throughout the interview process. Ask the buyer hundreds of questions about their business, previous work they’ve outsourced, references, everything. You want to know their history just as much as they want to know yours. If they can’t prove that they are a good buyer don’t waste your time working for them, even if the money sounds good. Some jobs and payouts are too good to be true and you need to be careful.

One of the best ways to protect yourself from being scammed is by going through various freelancing websites that are available. They offer you the payment protection you need and the communication services that help you keep things in order so you don’t get completed scammed in the process. This is exactly why there are so many different freelancing websites available, and they can be a beneficial asset to anyone just starting out in the freelancing world.

The best way to avoid the freelance scam is by protecting yourself. If it sounds too good to be true walk away as there is something else out there that won’t screw you over in the end.

After a large amount of testing and review Jerry West has been able to provide a wonderful list and recommendations of which Meta Tags are useful and which ones are not.

Many people are known to utilize the Meta Tag known as the Meta Expires tag, but don’t know how to properly use this tag. This tag happens to be quite ignored by the search engines including Google, so what would be the point in using it if its going to be ignored.

So how exactly can you stop your web page from being cached by Google, since the Meta Expires tag is ignored? Take a look at the following code that may help you out:

Web Marketing Now Launching SEO Revolution very Soon!

Posted by: christineculley86 on: January 9, 2009

This past week has been a very crazy one trying to get everything sorted out for the brand new SEO Revolution. Recently Jerry West decided it was time to change servers, which of course meant that we’d be doing a lot of transferring of content, tools, forums, videos, and anything else that was on the site.

At first this looked like an easy task, but over 40 hours later and many 3:30am nights this task has taken a lot longer then expected. Who would of ever thought that moving content would just involve your usual *copy & paste* job. I must say, YOU ARE VERY WRONG! Yes, I did do the copy & paste stuff, but then having to rework the HTML coding and do a billion checks to ensure everything looked perfect this task became a Huge, yet fun thing.

I am getting quite excited to hear the many comments and feedback that we are going to receive about the brand new layout, the better look of things, and the fact we did the entire move and didn’t go bald in process. We ran into several problems along the road, but what would be a server change without any complications.

This has become a huge learning adventure for me. I have done work like this before, but it has also allowed me to get a more indepth feel of the backend of a site, including the HTML. I was quite thrilled when I was offered the opportunity to take part in generating static pages. I know for many of you thats not a big deal, but when you start out as a plain jane writer/editor, then get promoted to Project Manager, and now given the opportunity to learn even more it becomes a big deal.

Web Marketing Now and SEO Revolution have become a huge part of my career and when major events happen with them and I get to take part in it I am quite honored. All the experience that Jerry West and his in office team has is quite amazing, and the fact they are willing to teach a young 22 year old girl thats 1320 KM away (yes thats quite specific but did a check) how to do the things they do makes them one of the best companies I’ve been associated with.

People can say anything they want about working online… but don’t knock it till you’ve tried it. Not everything is a scam.

So the point of this post is that I’d like to annouce that Web Marketing Now’s paid membership site “SEO Revolution” is soon going to be re-opening their screens for the paid public. There is over 400 articles, tons of videos, and many tools all awaiting your viewing eyes. I paid the fee and became a member because when you are offered so much for so little your crazy not to take the chance and see what is waiting for you on the other side.

Finding the Perfect Cellular Phone for Your Needs

Posted by: christineculley86 on: January 1, 2009

Discovering the right cellular phone for you can be difficult with the huge variety of options that are available today. Not many years ago cell phones were very basic and didn’t do much but make phone calls, but now your cell phone can be just like a portable computer, so how do you know you have the right cell phone for what you need?

If you know what you are looking for and what you need it will be less of a challenge finding the proper phone for you. The options seem to be endless with all the cell phone manufacturers that are available. You can find phones in many different forms of design including some of the following:

  • Flip phones
  • Slide phones
  • Touch screen phones
  • Non-flip/slide phones

Each type of phone has its own personal features and it will solely depend on your preference as to what you’d like out of your cellular phone. Finding the best cell phone can be a challenge as everyone has a different viewpoint as to what the best cellular phone is, but once you find it then you will never want to give it up.

Currently the Smartphones are being considered one of the best cellular phones for anyone to have. They are popping up everywhere and seem to have many more features becoming available to them every single day. Years ago people wouldn’t of expected to even be able to check their email on their phone, but now its becoming one of the most used features next to calling and texting. Phones are now becoming a tiny little computer that can travel anywhere with you.

So you are probably wondering what are some of the new and improved features that you can find on just about any cellular phone available. Lets just take a look at some of the things you can find available for your phone:

  • Bluetooth enabled
  • Integrated email, calendars, and much more
  • Internet capability
  • Push to Talk 2 way radios
  • Stereo MP3 Players
  • Expansion slots for memory cards
  • Video/Picture capability
  • Speaker phone
  • GPS capability
  • And much more

The options seem to be endless, and it seems to be becoming even more difficult to find a phone that is packed full with features like they use to be. If you want an old school phone you’ll have to find someone who still has one that works on the networks of cellular phone companies.

When you begin your hunt for a cellular phone you may want to consider doing some well-needed research online. There is a large amount of information available throughout the Internet that can explain every single feature that is used on cellular phones. Whether you are looking for information on phones from Motorola or Blackberry, you will be able to find it somewhere. Finding the perfect phone can be a long adventure, but with a little looking around you could do it.

SEO Meta Tags… are they still working?

Posted by: christineculley86 on: December 22, 2008

When you try to determine if the use of SEO Meta tags is still current and working for websites it can be a very lengthy process and take tons of testing to find out if your meta tags are actually doing anything for you and your website.

I’ve been searching around and trying to see if SEO Meta tags are doing anything and are at least good enough to use, and so far so good. There are so many different Meta tags available it can be difficult to determine which ones are the best and which are the worst.

During my search I was quickly directed back to Web Marketing Now, as per usual. This site always seems to be popping up when I am doing research on any meta tag… so is the content good? I’d say so. I’ve used many of Jerry West’s methods and been given good results every time. When I first began using his advice it did take some time for things to actually make way into the online world of PageRank, but I am there.

You can easily do a search for “meta expires” in Google and you’ll be directed to me in the top 10 search results… pretty sweet since this is only a little tiny blog.

So what exactly are SEO meta tags? They are very useful pieces of information that you place into your HTML code of your website that helps all those annoying, yet loved spiders crawl your site and make you be seen in the search results.

So what SEO Meta tags are available? Take a look at the HUGE list of seo meta tags that Web Marketing Now has placed on their site:

If you don’t believe me at least believe the guy who’s taken the time to test every little detail out to give you true tested results everytime.

Web Marketing Services: Expert Search Engine Advice

Posted by: christineculley86 on: November 13, 2008

Finding qualified information and qualified search engine marketers can be difficult for anyone, especially if they have no clue what they are looking for. One company that I recommend to everyone I know for most of their Internet needs is Web Marketing Now. Here is a portion of information offered by them:

“Web Marketing Now services can help you take your business to the next level. We have the experience and proven search engine marketing advice that is tested not guessed at. From beginners in SEO or SEM to old pros, we have the advice and services you need to propel your business to the top.”

When I read this and reviewed the site I knew they were serious when Jerry West wrote this up for the site. I am always looking for search engine advice, and there are only so many people you can believe, but Jerry West and the Web Marketing Now team has yet to give me the chance to not trust them. When they find an error they admit it, when something confuses them they’ll admit it, and I love that. Knowing that everything you’ll get from them is tested and proven is even better.

There are many Web Marketing Services available globally and everyone seems to say they are the best. Now where in the excerpt I placed from Web Marketing Now did they state they are the best? They don’t! They aren’t trying to oversell themselves, they don’t need too.

I decided it was time that I joined up with SEO Revolution so I can get some more information from Web Marketing Now, and must say the back-end of their site has even more information and worth every dime I spent. Its not like its a lot of money especially with the amount of information that is included on the backend.

The marketing services that Web Marketing Now offers are truly astounding, I’d recommend them to every person I know needing some assistance and advice, because Jerry West does actually give the needed advice and he is just like you and me, not someone you’ll ever feel intimidated by no matter how intelligent this man is.

Use of Meta Content-Type

Posted by: christineculley86 on: November 12, 2008

I’ve recently came across a meta tag that I haven’t come across too often called the Meta Content-Type. I was a little confused at first, but as I began doing some research on this meta tag and actually went quite in depth to fully understand it, I actually did.

The Meta Content-Type tag has been utilized to declare your websites character text. I know, as if I just came across such a thing, but hey… everyone learns new things everyday. When you have a DTD declaraction above the header it is said that you should use this meta tag, but why?…

When you decide not to use the Meta Content-Type tag you could end up having problems with how things are displays, especially if your document has UTF-8 punctuation characters but has become displayed with ISO or ASCII characters.

Now when I first began searching for said information on the Meta Content-Type tag I was overwhelmed, but as I continued I discovered that Web Marketing Now has taken the time to make things actually understandable to the most computer-illiterate people.

If you’d like to see an example of the Meta Content-Type tag you can actually do so on their site:

Web Marketing Now

I’ve used this site and recommended it many times to people because I can truly say the content is great. I just have yet to make it through the entire site because there is so much in there. So as I browse and find more useful information I’ll gladly keep posting it for you. I hate not understanding everything in the online world, so I can guarantee there are others out there like me who just want to understand things a little bit better.
